Two wooden bags reflecting on the carrier bag as one of the earliest human tools: an object for gathering, holding and bringing things home.

Developed through hand-carved wood and soft textile straps or hard metallic tape, the pieces reflect on gestures of carrying that have historically remained outside heroic narratives of production and conquest. Rather than tools that project force outward, these objects speak about containment, care and the quiet labour of sustaining life.

Each bag carries a powerful carved symbol: the spiral and the nin kanji (blade over heart). Two forms tied to different generations and ways of moving through the world. One reflecting disorientation, continuity and endless movement; the other patience, endurance and the fragile balance between strength and tenderness.

Somewhere between sculpture, container and wearable object, the bags hold within them stories passed between generations of women: gestures of gathering, storing, protecting and carrying forward.
